Word of Life Japan

We have been in Tokyo with Kazu and Amy Kato since we arrived here, Wednesday afternoon August 15. They are also FIM missionaries that minister in Tokyo with Tokyo Mission Church. Kazu is the pastor. Amy and I went to Word of Life (WOL) Florida and New York together from 2002-2004. We are in Karuizawa which is about 2 hours north or so from Tokyo.

Word of Life Japan is not a Bible Institute like the ones in Fl and NY but it is a School for Youth Ministries in English (SYME). Students come to SYME to study English. After completing the program many of them may then go to WOL Bible Institute.

Kazu's father is Director of Word of Life Japan in Tokyo and we are using the SYME facilities for a family camp with the church members. Kazu and Amy asked us to join them this weekend before we go south next week to Shimonoseki. We have been enjoying this time very much with the Kato's and the members of their church at this camp. We will be updating more soon with some of the activities we have been participating in and the speaker for the weekend.

What do you see?

I took this picture with the thermal imaging on and it made me think of just how little we really see. In a foreign culture we don't know what to look for, in the culture we grew up in often we don't take the time to really look- look to see people how God sees them; to see the needs they have and the savior that they do not know. That is a prayer of ours- that we can truly see the people around us, that God will show us how He wants us to minister to them, and that we will have the courage from Christ to act on it.

Just a quick pic I took this morning before breakfast.

Oh boy, It's a boy!

You can probably guess by the title but right before we left for Japan we found out that we are going to have a boy! Stephanie and I are super excited as we being the new part of our lives together. We ask that you pray for us as parents that we will be Godly examples that he can follow, and that you pray that our son will grow to be a Godly man. We can't say how much we appreciate hearing back from all of you through email or Facebook.
